Nova Scotia

And I'm off! Or actually, we're off. I said my final teary-eyed goodbyes to my Boston buds as the sun was just rising Tuesday morning. I met my parents at Logan International Airport ready with my massive bags ready to start my adventure!

We got to Nova Scotia easily but driving into Halifax was not so simple... they really need to figure out these roads around here.

We didn't waste any time, by 10:30 am we were already en route in search for a cute little town called, Chester. We drove and walked around town a bit, saw a pretty golf course, and decided to settle in for a delicious lunch at a seaside restaurant. The food was great but it was interesting how no matter what you order, the food is always somewhat different when you're not in your home country! AKA chicken served ontop of a bed of watermelon? (Constantly have to remind myself that Canada is a different country.......)

Next stop was Peggy's Cove which was unbelievable! 400+ million year old granite was molded into a unique coastline by shifting and melting glacial ice. It was fun to climb up on the soft rolling hills of old rock and stare out at the ocean I'm about to sail on! There's a famous lighthouse at the tip of the cove which marks the entrance of St. Margaret's Bay. There was a really cute town which had tiny shops with local artisans. We ended up buying these really cool old school buoys for the Bluff Bar in Manomet! They're going to look great, and the old man who worked there was quite the character to meet himself.

We headed back to Halifax and ate once again by the water. Sun was setting and it was picture perfect.

Then today, we ventured out of the city to Wolfville which has The Domaine de Grand Pre Vineyard. They're famous for their "ice wines" which I thought was interesting... good way to make use of the long "off-season" in Canada! We roamed around a bit and sat under a beautiful canopy of grapes while enjoying the local white wine and a cheese and nut plate for lunch. The locals laughed at me for how many pictures I took... uh-oh I haven't even begun my journey and I already can't stop with the photos. (Good thing I brought my external hard-drive!)

Later my parents had a tour of the ship (MV Explorer) and they loved it and were impressed. It's pretty funny... they've been on before I even have! We shared our "last meal" on the pier and actually ordered the wine that we had tried from the Grand Pre vineyard earlier in the day! Still tasted just as good :)

Early night for all of us... just coffee together tomorrow and then it's Bon Voyage Breezy!

Quite the long post, go ahead and SKIM through it! Most probably won't be so detailed because I won't have as much down time but we shall see. I'll keep yall posted.

Goodnight!
